Monday 9th June 2025

Jools hurt her knee, said or did little about it, and carried on going to the gym and gardening. So, come Monday was in so much pain she went to the chiropodist.

This meant that the gym session was cancelled, and I was to drop her off on Dover Road in Canterbury where they clinic now has its base.

First we had to drop the hire car off, so Jools left to fill it up, then I followed to collect her from St James Car Park.

I arrived as she did, so then we could make our way along London Road and out through Lydden to the A2, thus avoiding the mess that is the Whitfield roundabout during the school run.

Traffic was backed up to near the park and ride, so Jools jumped out to walk the 400 yards to the clinic, I did a u-turn and came back to Dover where I would hunt breakfast and get my mobile repaired.

Somehow I had cracked the cover for the camera lens, and although there was still one in place, it seemed right to get it fixed.

Turns out that in having the new i-phone meant that many phone repair places didn't have the parts to fix the 16.

I was told to go to the place opposite Greggs, which I went to, and for seven quid he took off the remains of the broken cover and put on a new unit. All in two minutes.

Then, to breakfast.

Chaplins is closed on Mondays, so I went to the alternative, The Beano, and had their brunch, which was pretty good and set me for the day.

Jools decided to go into the city, so I was home alone for a while, I sat in the sun with Scully as the morning passed.

Mike dropped Jools off.

We had a brew.

And at two, over to Whitfield for our new date to play cards.

And the good news is that we won big: I won Meld and Jools scooped the pot for the run in Queenie, and our near empty money tin ended up half full.

Which was nice.

Outside, Mike was messing with his new car, a 1984 Granada 2.8 Ghia, which is a fine car.

One hundred and sixty As you can see.

Back home to feed the cats and me make dinner of breaded chicken with some of the Boston Beans I made last week. And pretty darn good it was to.

Finally, to watch Wales play Belgium, come from three down to level before conceding a fine goal three minutes from time so lost 4-3.

Entertaining.
