Tuesday 11th October 2016

Yay, back in Denmark. And in the Olympic, unlike other hotels around the world, it is more full out of season that in the middle of it. Full of people for the project, helping loadout, or on the vessel itself. The hotel is packed, and the bar is doing a fine trade. Which is why when I make it down for breakfast, there are so few free tables, and a lot of the best, crispy and seeded rolls have already gone.

Outside it is dark, and looks like rain, like I'm surprised. I eat, then walk to the car and drive the 5 minutes to the port and then find the car park already overflowing. So, park some 15m further from the entrance than normal, and walk in, grab a coffee and begin the tasks of the day.

Day comes, revealing the site almost packed to busting with turbine components. We have very little room for any more, just as well we now have nearly the entire windfarm on site, as would would need a bigger yard. The difference this week is that our installation vessel is moored, and towers over everything in the yard. Its an impressive site, and this is my working world now.Much better than chicken giblets.

Meetings, screaming, meetings, e mails, screaming, phone calls: the day passes, shadows lengthen. There is also some safety training. So we go to the hotel for some free lunch, which is nice. And free. A buffet, with fresh salmon and the usual Danish stuff. Except Carlsberg. Not that kind of Danish.

And more again in the afternoon, until it is time to finish for the day, drive to the hotel, lay on the bed listening to the radio and stare at the ceiling.

At half six I meet some colleagues in the bar, then we walk over the road to Flammen for some BBQ. Always a good meal there, and this time doesn't disappoint either. Yay for us and for work. I am already looking forward to be going home on Friday, though.

And to round off the day, I am sit and swear at the TV, as the England game is on, and they are as useless and clueless as ever, unable to pass to each other and run and think at the same time. It ends 0-0, and England were lucky to get nil.
