I audit therefore I am.
An auditor.
And as punishment or reward, I have to be online and ready to start an audit by seven on Monday morning, and before then I had to prepare an information presentation. Which is why the alarm went off at half five.
Needless to say, it was dark.
And the cats barely hungry.
We get up, and are a blur of motion as we get dressed and do the stuff we normally do. But earlier.
So I set up at half six, prepare the presentation, and so am ready for seven. Sadly, for the auditees, my co-auditor has prepared well, and know most of the answers they will give, and the argument against them.
We uncover significant gaps, and the report will be eye-watering.
Time for lunch, some oatcakes with butter and marmalade with a huge fresh strong brew.
And then back to my more mundane tasks, and doing anything other than sort out my travel expenses.
The afternoon zips by, and before I know it, it was half three and getting dark already.
Outside, the self-seeded Stinking Hellebore is nearly in flower, but as quick as the flowers open, snails and slugs eat them.
Four pairs of feline eyes follow my every movement until I go tot he kitty kibble store and fill their bowls.
Cats then scatter either back to bed or outside to do wat cats do outside.
With Jools splashing in the evening, nothing to prepare for dinner straight away, but I do debone and skin some chicken thighs, and marinade them in a buttermilk wash.
I make a coffee for Jools when she comes home, we drinks, get changed and is out again in half an hour. So I tidy up, prepare the coating for the chicken to cook once Jools has let me know she has left the pool.
And there's no footy on the tellybox either, so I listen to podcasts and fritter my time away. Until it was time to cook four of the chicken thighs, spit and butter rolls, so soon after Jools gets back, I dish up, pour drinks and we eat.
Late.
But the food is good, so after more clearing up, we head to bed, full and happy.
