Wednesday 11th September 2013

Tuesday.

Much like Monday, but with a market in Kings Lynn.

The weather has turned autumnal, and so the rain sweeps across, and sometimes sun breaks through. But it is cold enough, well, chilly enough to 'pump the heating round' of an evening to take the chill off. We have put the winter duvet on, but in truth we are too hot at night now, but it may well soon snow. Maybe within 6 months!

Tuesday, I worked from home, so I got to lay in bed an extra half an hour, before getting up, making another pot of coffee and powering the laptop up. I was kept company by Scully, who since Bowie's move has taken to coming in more often, but now will hardly go outside. She has taken up residence in Mulder's basket or more annoyingly, in my space on the sofa! And she seems very happy with that. Molly now comes in regularly, but mostly stays in all night, on our bed. Normality seems to have been restored very quickly.

Jools bailed on Yoga, so we had fish and chips instead and then I settled down to watch the England game on ITV. And so what shall I say? Well, the fact that passing to someone in an England shirt seems to be beyond most players, and that Ukraine were every bit as poor as England, a 0-0 draw was fair. Quite how this bodes well for the near future is anyone's guess. As usual, if they qualify, England will be knocked out by the first half decent team they meet. At least it was a better result than for either Wales, who lost 3-0 at home to Serbia or Northern Ireland who lost 3-2 to Luxemburg. It was Luxembourg's first victory in competition for 43 years.

Wednesday.

And so to the last day at work for a couple of weeks. Send mails, answer phonecalls, attend webinars. Eat dinner. Write reports, send more emails. And then go home. And relax. We had apple and blackberry crumble for dinner. Fruit from hedgerows picked by us the other week. And more wonderful for that. No football on TV, no films to watch either, so I have read and now time to tidy up and get an early night so I don't miss any of my first day off tomorrow.....
