Tuesday 2nd October 2018

Tuesday.

Two days to work.

So much work to do.

And so little time to do it in.

Each day is pretty much the same, trips to the doctor notwithstanding, but on most days its pretty much the same.

Jools is up making coffee, I go downstairs and check on the work via the interwebs, then watch Sunday's football game on the i player, have breakfast and by then it is just about ready for work.

I put on the radio, and that plays for a while until the work starts to pile into my inbox.

I only go outside to fill up the bird feeders, the weather is dull and overcast, and just about cool enough to have the heating on low, just to take the edge off.

Two hundred and seventy four I have one big task to do, but I procrastinate for half the day, I end up creating folders on the shared drive and think that looks just dandy. I just need to fill it up with work.

Tomorrow.

Might be a long day.

I work in the afternoon, sitting on the sofa while a documentary of the life of Evel Knievel plays. An interesting figure, not really did a day's work, stole money for shows he paid on in the early days, stumbled across stunts on motorcycles and made a career out of it. At the height of his fame, was a drunk and womaniser, and a very poor friend and boss.

When a journalist wrote a book about the failed canyon jump, Evel beat the guy up with a baseball bat and went to prison for 6 months.

His career bombed after that, could not pay his bill, lost his house and yachts. Ended up with a woman half his age as he rebuilt his career until poor health took him too early.

He spent his final months apologising to those he had wronged, including his wife and family. In the end, he might have been a man's man, but was a git.

Interestingly, American Pickers visited a guy who was a huge fan of Evel's, maybe the biggest, and had bought all of Evel's possessions once the man died, and had a garage and house of Evel's stuff. Including the man's waffle maker and 72 pairs of underpants.

Now, I'm a fan of a few folks, but I'd draw a line at anyone's used underwear.

I pack work stuff away, in time to prepare dinner, carbonara again as it's a real winner of a recipe and can be done in 15 minutes. And wine.

Footy on the radio in the evening, and if listening to Man Utd not score is bad enough, can you imagine being there and spending a hundred quid for it? No, me neither.

And that is it. One day at work.
