Kane and able

England captain, Harry Kane, today joined Bayen in a deal that might go up to £110,000,000 over the four year deal.

Kane is the all time Spurs leading scorer, and leading scorer in the Premier League era.

But, that is only if you start counting such things when Sky invented football in 1992.

In fact, Kane is only 15th top scorer in the all time top flight records, and Alan Shearer who Kane overtook with PL golas last year is the all time 4th top scorer.

This makes the modern era more important and better than what came before it.

Professional football began in 1888, and expanded over the years to the 92 clubs in the PL and EFL we see now, though more clubs in the National League are also professional too, rather than part time.

Is Harry Kane the all time best player for Spurs, or just the modern era, if so, what is the modern era. Because the all time leading scorer is Jimmy Greaves, whi at Chelsea, Spurs and West Ham scored 357 goals in the old First Division, only 29 of which pere penalties. Greaves left Spurs in 1970, in my lifetime, so by almost any measure is the modern era.

Dixie Dean scored 310 for Everton, only seven of which were penalties, and 60 were scored in the 1927-28 season alone, needless to say that is a record that stands to this day, though Haarland came close last season.

The washing of history so that the Premier League is all that counts might be OK if it were just Sky that were doing it, they have a vested interest in doing so, but as we go into the 33rd season of the Premier League, the Football League has 104 years of history and glory before that. Most of it now only exists in record books as few were filmed, but it doesn't make those achievements any less remarkable or unforgettable.

Kane would have needed to score 144 more goals to be the all time top scorer. Maybe he could have done it, maybe its better he didn't.
