The latest thing to annoy the Torygraph, Hate Mail and Express, is the fact that interim England anager, Lee Carsley, who is Irish, will not sing the National Anthem this afternoon.
He is Irish.
And said he didn't sing the Irish anthem when he played for his country.
The Torygraph back page shouts: "If Carsley doesn't sing the anthem he can't expect to manage England!"
Why?
Will singing the anthem make him a better manager?
Will it make his team play better?
We all remember with how much passion the Brazilian team sung their anthem before their World Cup semi-final against Germany in 2014. A match that Germany won 7-1.
Passion counted for nothing.
Imagine being so wound up, every little thing triggers you: Irish England manager, cross on the back of the England shirt, French choose Barnier as their new Prime Minister.
The world has changed since the days of Empire and are not ever going back, no matter how much they hope. The 1950s were not perfect either, neither is today, but pretending its 1950 isn't going to make Britain Great again, nor rule the waves. Instead they waive the rules.
Yesterday, most of the same papers ran a story that Germany was going to use Rwanda to house asylum seekers. Using the same barracks the UK Government paid for.
Untrue, they are looking at using third countries to process applications, then shipping those sucessful back to Germany, all withing international law, not a kick in the teeth for Keir Starmer after all.
