Saturday 8th March 2025

It am the weekend, and a time for laying in bed and listening to the birds.

And listening for Jools..

I hear Jools not.

I get dressed and go down to find she had gone for an early walk, so I think I should just take the shopping list and go to Tesco early and not wait.

So that's what I do.

Tesco at ten past seven is not busy, so I fill up with essentials: Beer, wine, whiskey and some vegetables.

And am out again by quarter to eight, and once back, Jools is home too, having seen me leave via the the viewfinder of her new camera from the other side of The Dip.

We have breakfast and wonder what to do with the day. Thing is, on a weekend after a trip away, I am minded to do little as possible, to luxuriate in just being home with Jools and the cats, then sleeping in my own bed.

Mid-morning we do go for a short walk over the fields. No butterflies seen and not that many new flowers in bloom, and none of the tens of thousands of Alexanders are yet in flower either.

Back home we have a brew and some Party Rings, which I have been wanting to have for a while. Needless to say they're smaller than I remember, and very, very sweet.

Sixty seven But soon.

For our mid-afternoon lunch I cook a steak Jools had got from Aldi, and turned the belly pork slices into Danish Stegt Flaesk, which means cooking the belly pork until crispy.

Which I do in the air fryer, which works perfectly.

I don't do the boiled potatoes of parsley sauce, but it was good enough with Boston Beans and creamed spinach and some spicy rice.

Anemone And then to an afternoon and evening of football. Norwich had played the evening before and drew with bottom club Oxford, 1-1. So I snooze through the first half to hear Palace beat Ipswich and Forest beat Citeh.

Later, Liverpool beat Southampton, but not as easily as expected, but their cruise to the title goes on.
