Nan

A short post inbetween all the holiday posts, but sadly I have to report that Nan passed away this afternoon just before four.

She was 101 years old.

Not much really to report; she stopped eating and drinking at the end of last week and drifted in and out of consciousness ever since.

When we landed at the airport yesterday, we were told how serious it was, and this morning the doctor said that he did not expect her to last the day. Through the day, her breathing got shallower and shallower until the end came.

It has been something of a relief, as she has had no quality of life since she entered the home, and we all felt so helpless not being able to improve her lot.

So, goodbye Nan, sleep well.

My condolences to Jools and yourself, although I understand your comment about it being a relief.
