Saturday 14th January 2023

The weekend comes round and we usually like to fill it with stuff.

I like to fill it with churches, orchids, trains, football, butterflies or something.

And usually, even if the weather is really shit we can go out and do something. But this Saturday: more gales, more rain, and light levels so low any kind of photograhy even in a church would be difficult.

So, other than shopping, nothing planned.

Up at six, and after coffee, a quick drive to Tesco and once there we find they have had three power cuts, the hand scanners were not working, and only half the tills.

Fourteen This could be an adventure.

We don't need that much, so got roud in 20 minutes, lined up for a till, and were out within an hour, although more tills were coming back on line, staff were having a hell of a time sorting things out.

Back outside and the rain had arrived, the wind throwing it horizontally across the car park.

We drive home.

Fruit for breakfast and then coffee. And an our later, bacon butties and another brew.

Meanwhile, outside, the rain was coming down so hard it was like we were in a car wash, the cats gave up trying to go out, and I did some vacuuming to pass the time until it was lunchtime and the football began.

Yes, not even gales and heavy rain stops football these days.

And the big question was, will Norwich under our new manager have a change in fortune? Well, three goals up in under half an hour, and a forth scored in the second half answers that question. So, will this be a new dawn of just a blip?

Liverpool were hammered by Brighton, 3-0, and in truth it could have been much worse.

More football in the evening, while Craig played chunes on the wireless. And Jools then beat me again at Crib. Oh joy.
