International embarrassment

Johnson has been holding the chair of the G8, so he had them meet at his favourite holiday resort, as that's where Nanny used to take him for his holidays.

I have nothing against Carbis Bay, but its a long way to go just to talk.

Johnson has this evening refused to have any foreign press at the end of summit press conference, and the press corps have been kep many, many miles away so can't interact in any way with the leaders attending.

What could Johnson have to hide?

Everything.

He avoids scrutiny, and is trying to eliminate what little is left.

He is trapped between the EU and US both telling him that the UK has to live up to what it agreed to, just six months back.

Pictures show other leaders, Biden and Merkal shying away from a friendly elbow bang, and yet pictures have emerged of Macron and Biden arm in arm.

So very telling.

The Brexiteer narrative that everything would be just fine if Johnny Foreigner just gave us what we want, and having their own demands or wanting to live up to every clause in the three agreements is just being to legally pure.

Is this where we are as a country?

Yes. Yes it is.

And there is very likely a trade war with the EU coming, one that the US might side with the EU on, not the UK, as the UK is now, if not a rogue state, one that cannot be trusted.

And yet, at some poin, normal relations wo emerge. The UK live up to the WA, NIP and TCA or something like them, and so willingly, not in a massive show of bad faith.

And on that day, maybe the BBC and other media will report that, rather than parrot Johnson's waffle.
