For years we warned Jools' Dad and Jen about the dangers of being scammed.
Thought not much about it in years.
But a few weeks back, Jools got scammed.
It was all so plausable, so only realised before she was going to send details to the scammer.
So far, so good.
We just had to get our money back. Thing is, as Jools had bought something, but then cancelled the cards, the shop and company that supplied the goods passed the buck onto each other. Jools went round and round in circles for days, before finally getting to speak to someone in the latter company who finally took her seriously.
Last Thursday, we got the money back, and we breathed a huge sigh of relief.
There's no moral in this, just to be careful, and if you get a request to do something out of the ordany, just wait and seek confirmation, I guess.
So, nothing lost.
That being said, not much exciting stuff happened this week. Just work and the expected return of winter, as snow was forecast to fall on Tuesday night. Looking down from the bathroom window, it was like winter had returned, with colours of a subdued hue, and walking round the garden, most growth had been paused.
Jools was going to go swimming, but turned the alarm off so got an extra hour, and felt better for it. I got up, fed the cats, andmade drinks. As Jools is usually first down, the cats all follow her, but as it was me for a change, only Scully came asking for food.
Jools went for a walk then was off to work, while I was already in a call with Henrik.
So it goes.
I realised I had spent the best part of three days in the house, I was a little stir crazy, so much to my surprise, I went out for a walk.
Not far, just along the road and over the fields, then back along Collingwood and back home, just 4,000 steps, but it was good to be out, even if it felt like the middle of winter again, but really not as cold as I thought it would be.
The rain came soon after I was back, and it and then sleet ran down the windows at the back of the house. Even dusk came nearly an hour early.
For dinner we had steak and ale pie, left over pigs in blankets and Yorkshires as well as the remainder of the vegetables and the last drops of the beef gravy. I made fresh roast potatoes, cooked to perfection, and Jools opened a bottle of fizz when she came home.
We sat down to eat a fine midweek meal, the radio playing in the background.
Simple pleasures.
