Sunday 8th March 2020

International Women's Day.

After such a fun-filled day on Saturday, Sunday was to be quieter.

Jools could not swim on Friday due to there being a gala on, so went on Sunday, early, so I watched some of MOTD, did chores.

Jools came back, we had fruit for breakfast, then were ready to go out just past nine, to go to Folkestone for a haircut. For me.

And gave us a chance to meet our friend, Mary and swap news. The cruise we are all going on is getting mighty close now, and we have lots of news to catch up on.

We leave home in rain, but soon the sun gets out, and along the Alkham Valley, where to my surprise in the last week the Drellingore had risen and was flowing well.

The Drellingore is a winterbourne that feeds into the River Dour that flows through Dover. Anyway, last week the valley was dry, this weekend it had a major stream flowing, and the pond at Russell Gardens was overflowing into the road.

Sixty eight I stopped to take a picture.

So to Folkestone, park up at the top of the Old High Street. Jools and I walk up to where Mary was in the coffee shop, I carry on and walk tot eh barbers and am straight into a chair and am quickly shorn of my long and flowing locks.

Back to the coffee shop for a fine cup of Java and a slice of poppyseed strudel with cream. Which was rather wonderful.

All too soon we had to leave as our parking ticket was about to expire, so we say goodbye and are back at the car and off out of town just in the nick of time.

One of the tests we had for the new car was how quickly it could accelerate up the hill towards Capel. The Corsa could barely make it in 3rd by the top. So at the bottom I pushed the throttle and away we went. It might just be a 1 litre, but it powered up the hill and we were doing 50 by the top: very impressive.

So we cruise home, time for me to do a session on the cross trainer, then have a shave and shower.

That's better. Lunch is steak and ale pie, roast potatoes, steamed veg, the left over gravy from last week's roast, and pink fizz. Though we only have two bottle left of that now, a return to France is now overdue!

We are all cleared away in time for kick off in the early game. All I had to do was manage to stay awake.

Later game was the Manc derby, which Utd win quite easily. Liverpool can now win the league of Citeh lose on Wednesday and Sunday before they play again on Monday.

By mid-March.

And by then darkness had fallen, we have bacon sandwiches for supper, then play Uckers, which Jools wins.

Yay.

And again, the weekend had slipped by.
