Cat update

Molly has not been herself for some time now. I have mentioned it in blogs for a couple of months now.

Work from home is almost impossible as she wants to lay as close to me as possible, or want food and attention, and yet when you take her to the kitchen, there is food and she does not eat. That, and that she has gone from alpha cat to delta cat in four months, now both Mulder and Scully taking her favoured sleeping places, and not giving them up when a few months ago neither would have dared.

Something is wrong, we know. Just what? Two months ago, she had an exploratory operation, as a lump had been found. That turned out to be something not seen before, but mostly water and a cyst-like material, but in a week was gone.

Now she is more changed than normal, so we took her to the vet yesterday, and there is another lump. But it might not be anything, or could be a tumour. She is to have another scan and operation on the 4th, then we might know something. But for now, we study her and her foibles. She is 12 and a half, not that old in cat years, but still old enough for a number of things to develop that might take her. We just don't know, for now.

Mulder is a health seven year old black cat. He is loving, has boundless energy, and dotes on Jools all the time. He has always dribbled, when happy he dribbles. He dribbles as he waits for food. In short, he is a dribbler. But for the last day, he has dribbled more.

This morning when we looked at him his lower jaw was soaked in dribble. We looked at him, and in his mouth there is a significant swelling under his tongue. Jools whizzed hom over to the vet, and the prognosis is bad. Almost certainly a tumour, and an aggressive one that will have spread from his throat. His is going to have an operation on Wednesday, the vet is so concerned she is going it in her lunchbreak. It could be a cyst, but, you know, we much be realistic.

So, in two days, we have found out two of the three cats in Chez Jelltex are very sick, or likely very sick. We are quite down right now, as you can imagine. We will look after the cats and treasure these days over Christmas.
