Bordering on a solution

Imagine, if you will, this situation where there was no viable solution to the NI/Irish border, but then one was found.

Politics in NI is very fractured, there isn't just the one party representing either side of the sectarian divide, so the DUP doesn't speak for the Unionists let along for all of NI.

There is also a provision in the Good Friday Agreement (GFA) that it appears that the majority of people in the province appeared to prefer Irish Unification, then there would be a free vote (referendum).

Drawing these two themes together, news emerged today of Unionist Politicians, one assumes no DUP, have been in exploratory talks with Dublin on unification. Of course, might no go further, but that would really pull the rug from under the DUP and May.

Stranger things have happened.

Can't think of anything at the moment....
