Doubling down on the Brexit lie

A short post, as I was offline for two days, so a bit out of the loop regarding Brexit news, but worth noting that the UK Government's Official Twitter feed, @No10gov, or something, was used to repeat the lie that extra spending on the NHS would be paid for by the "Brexit Bonus" that comes with leaving the EU.

Later this was replaced with part-funded, and that the rest would be paid for by extra taxes.

It is worth noting that by the Government's own figures, and those of several recognised sources, that Brexit will cost the UK Exchequer something in the region of £15billion a year. And making up that shortfall will keep spending at current levels only, increasing spending would have to be funded ON TOP Of that £15 billion shortfall.

As the economy contracts, those paying tax will have to pay more, or spending elsewhere will have to be reduced.

So, on top of this, May is proposing spending Billions more on the NHS.

And then there is the lie, and lie is the right word, that there will be any money leftover from what we send to the EU to spend back home, in that all the functions that the EU does on UK's behalf, will have to be replicated, and will be more expensive for one country to do, rather than split the costs between 28 European nations.

So, with Brexit:

1. Spending more than we currently do on the EU
2. More expensive to replace those institutions and functions
3. Higher taxes and/or reduced spending elsewhere.

Today Ghe Commons votes on the Lord's amendment, and could go either way. Wisdom is that May will lose, but there could be last minute deals done. But if May does lose the vote, then surely she and her Government will fall.
