The five members of the Cabinet who support Brexit, but not the one in the WA, have taken among themselves to redraft the WA. Leader of this is, laughingly, leader of the House, Andrea Leadsom, who thinks the PM can be lead towards a better deal.
This shows really how little the Brexiteers have learnt in the last two and a half years regarding Brexit.
I mean, Ms Leadsom could be a genius at international trade agreements, and writes a fantastic one, but if this was the the "take it or leave it" offer from Brussels, and what they will be trying to rewrite is the Irish Border bit, which just happens to be one of the three main issues.
First of All, Ms Leadsom would have to get the EU to agree to look at the new text, then actually agree to what it says. And it had better not say "technological solutions"! But I suspect it does. Even if you do that, they will say either nein or non.
Better accept the fact that this is what is on the table, and might not be there forever, what with the fact we hare nearly one third of the way through the ratification period, and no actual ratification has been done yet.
The question we should be asking now is, who is in charge in Westminster: The PM? The ERG? Or this group of ministers doing some extra-curricular deal tampering?
Not that it matters, because know how many EU ministers thought of resigning before they had read or understood the WA, or even after they understood it?
None.
