Jumping on the bandwagon

Let me get this straight, I am very pleased, thrilled, that England are in the final of the Euros.

What this group of players have done and gone through is remarkable.

Less than four weeks ago both the PM and Home Secretary said is was OK to boo the players for taking the knee in support of Black Lives Matter and other equality issues. For that some papers branded them Marxists, Woke and the such.

This week the PM went to Wembley dressed in a short and tie, with an England shirt over it, and then a jacket on top. Since then he has been pictured standing on a huge flag of St George and Downing Street is covered in the same flags.

Would he have done the same for Scotland or Wales?

Hmmmmm.

Its not that I dn't want the headlines, but its the flagwaving that goes along with it.

And imagine the reaction if England win the bloody thing?!

I mean, I hope they do.

"Fans" will boo the Italy anthem, boo when the Italians have possession and probably many will boo when England players take the knee before kick off. More will cheer and clap, but some will still boo.

In MLB, such actions would result in having to go "sportsmanship" education or lose the right to go to games.

Its all too, too, serious.

If we lose, I will go to bed, then sleep seven hours, get up, go to work, and do a day's work. The same if we in.

Football and sports is the seasoning that makes life more enjoyable, not the only ingredient.

The players have done all this, on their own terms. I hope they carry this on; win or lose.

Don't ever change.
