Deal or no deal

Really, it don't matter that much. I mean, no deal will be very grim indeed, but the thin deal that Johnson wants is barely any better.

Either solution brings a ountain of red tape and an army of customs officials with queues at ports, shortages in the shops and a UK businesses and farmers at a huge disadvantage compared to their European former colleagues.

I wrote several years ago, that if someone is talking about trade in tafiffs only, then they don't really understand trade, as the real problems are in non-tariff barriers. It was true then, and true now.

The assocciated red tape will slow down trade, cost businesses money and drive up prces for us UK consumers.

So, I am sitting here listening to so called Try grandees talking about tafiffs and trade and know they are talking bollacks, but the BBC and other media outlets report this almost verbatum.

And I say again, deal or no deal, is just a new square on the Brexit playing board, somewhere to rest whilst reality plays out and the UK and UK Government see the consequences of what they set in motion.

Whatever happens it is just the next move in a long game which will result, sooner or later, with the UK either rejoining the EU or being so closely linked as make little difference.

Its just the damage inbetween that will hurt, cost jobs and ruin parts of the country and secotors of the economy. Some will never recover, other might, in time.

The warnings were always there, being shouted by those who knew, but willfully ignored by Johnson and the Brexiteers, for most of them it is just a game, and a game which at worse will see them all given a seat on the House of Lords and the great game can continue, but dressed in robes and ermin, on better expenses.
