So long and thanks for all the fish

The latest round of "negotiations" between the UK and EU ended without agreement, and both sides as far apart as ever, it seems.

The UK side was more upbat, but then it is on their court to do something.

It seems the sticking point, from the UK, is fish.

Fish and fishing makes up a tiny percent of the total UK's annual GDP. Most of what UK boats catch is exported to the EU, and most of what fish we eat is imported from the EU.

Anyone see the problem here?

Anyway, it is typical of the Brexiteers and swivel eyed loons in general, is that they would rather get their Union Jack knickers in a twist over a part of the total economy that hardly matters in financial terms, but is willing to sacrifice the rest of the economy, services especially, and services which makes up over 50% of the UK GDP. Yes, we'll throw that under the bus.

As they are willing to do for most of UK industry.

This week several sectorial leaders were called before a Select Committee to answer questions, all cited increae in costs, more red tape and no benefits of any kind. And the RHA stated that the Government had not been forthcoming with promised details of computer systems.

Michael Gove retorted that the RHA had not been the most helpful or partners.

Now, I might not be clever, but a public spat with one of the transport sector's leading representative organisations may not be the smartest move, especially when things like facts back the RHA up. None of the computer systems are yet up and working, some only exist on papaer, and requirements of said systems has only just begun.

They all have to work from 1st January, and fit perfectly together to satisfy EU requirements. If not, no freight crosses the Channel.

I hope to leave Brexit and COVID behind for the weekend, and try to concentrate on the good things in life.

See you tomorrow for more every day shite.

Have a great weekend.
