The train goes into the tunnel: choo choo choo

As the Uk is behaving like a toddler having a tantrum about eating carrots, best we treat it like a child too.

This evening, the UK agreed to reart talks with the EU, despite the EU have not changed their position on anything.

This came after a speech by Mr Barnier earlier, in which he sounded slightly conciliatory, but nothing what the UK said it what it wanted.

There is no promise of intensification, just an offer to talk if the UK wanted.

As ever, this non stroy was a diversion mainly for a domestic audience. And by that I mean the ERG and Conservative Party members and Daily Express and Mail readers.

So, the only damage done is that a week has passed, so time is even tighter. Word seems to be that some kind of deal is in the offing, but we have heard that before. The only problem might be how to spin another Johnson capitulation as some kind of victory.

And then would come winning over the ERG and the latest influx of Tory MPs who swore to uphold the WA.

Nothing is certain, and if there is no deal by the 31st, chaos will rule.

But I say again, even if that were to happen, talks would quickly resume, more urgent and with the UK depserate to sign up to whatever is offered by the EU.

Rough tmes ahead.

Now open your mouth and eat your carrots. Here comes the train. Toot toot.
