Wednesday 12th April 2023

Welcome to Wednesday.

Its hard to know what to say that I haven't said so far this week.

We have no car of our own, but they have now tracked it down and it is at the garage. The hire car will be delivered on Thursday to Jools, but they said we only can have the car for 21 days, and the repairers said it might take up to 5 weeks to repair, if it can be repaired.

She does have the "pool" car, so can get into work, though has to be in early so its available for use. So, she is up at five, fed the cats, made drinks and had a shower, ready to leave at half six.

I listen to a pod cast, fill the bird feeders, were outside the wind is already picking up for an unusual Spring storm, which wouldpeak with 97mph winds over the Needles on the Isle of Wight. Not quite so windy here, but bad enough. So I spent half an hour tying plants and shrubs up so the wind wouldn't damage or destroy them.

One hundred and two The cats were already alarmed by the wind, whislting as it was already, but would build to a howl by midday and carry on through the afternoon into the evening.

It seemed obvious I would not be going out for a walk.

Dinner that evening would not be a problem, as I had used the leftover turkey and carrots to make a pasta bake, that just needed warming up half an hour before Jools came back home. I would make some tear and share garlic bread to go with it, but forgot to half the measures so made another loaf to have at some point.

The day was filled up.

And there was work.

Always work.

Later, Scully and I watched Stanley Tucci and his family returning to their Italian home village to meet their extended family, and helped explain I guess why Americans treasure their national and family roots, whereas those of us from Europe really don't seem to care that much. I mean I have Irish roots, but never that bothered about it, maybe its because they left Ireland further back?

But to be a part of that culture, to be able to cook the recipes that the locals know, must be an amazing thing.

I would love to cook these recipes, but know that without the right ingedients, it would never taste the same.

Sadly.

Through the day, the wind built, and it howled, threw rain at the house and was most unpleasant.

At five I put the garlic bread in to bake, then 15 minutes later, the pasta bake.

There were carbs on carbs, but was a fine feast, the right seasoning and herbs and spices. We had wine.

Cheers.

For the evening there was the fun of listening to Frank Lampard's "new" Chelsea lose to Real Madrid.

Still, gotta laugh.
