Part 2

In order to be able there was no evidence there was Russian interference in the EU Referendum and 2017 Election, three UK Prime Ministers did not look, or get MI5 to investigate.

This is an abdication of responsibility, and in my humble opinion, misconduct in Public Office, and offence which has life in prison and unlimited fines as punishment.

For nine months Johnson has blocked, in one way or another, the publication of a report into Russian interference. But now most of it is out. The most sensitive part, the annex containing all the donations made to Conservative MPs and Ministers has been redacted. But it is still grim.

Even worse that there was interference, it turns out the Government didn't want to know, maybe in fear of what was found, and its implications. Maybe they just didn't care, as their positions in Government and on Brexit replied on the interference.

When our democratic institutions were under attack by a foreign power, the UK Government looked the other way, asked no questions, and claimed there was no evidence. No evidence because they did not look.

Turns out I did as much investigating Russian interference as MI5 did.

The report states that “we have not been provided with any post-referendum assessment of Russian attempts at interference ... in stark contrast to the US handling of allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election”. Its press release is even more blunt, declaring that “the government did not take action to protect the UK’s process in 2016”. The committee duly recommends that the intelligence services “produce an analogous assessment of potential Russian interference in the EU referendum” and publish an unclassified summary.

The Government responded: “we have seen no evidence of successful interference in the EU referendum”, and given the lack of new information, “a retrospective assessment ... is not necessary”. Which is the problem the report highlights; They have seen no evidence because they have not looked.

We are now living in a Banana Republic, run by a clown, dancing to the tune of two different world powers.
