Shameless

Today, at PMQs, Johnson, the PM, tried to joke his way out of the fact that for four years and through three Conservative PMs, no evidence was found of Russian interference as no one looked.

The leader of the opposition has more flip flops that Bournemouth beach. Or something, he quipped, while our nation security remains just two words, nothing of substance.

Of course he tried to smear Keir Starmer with no care whether it was true or not. It was, of course, untrue.

Until the Prime Minister of this country embarrasses the truth once more, the truth about Russian interference and what it has done to our democracy, there will be no moving on.

Of today's print front pages, The Metro, Guardian, Financial Times, The I, all lead with the scandal. Meanwhile, The Mail lead with pictures of 7 year old Prince George and blame on UK spy agencies, nothing of the total political failure. No Surprise that the Daily Express leads with a quote from Johnson: No way Russia rigged Brexit vote. Of course, there are actual "facts" to back that statement up, as no action was actually taken by Johnson as either Foreign Secretary of as Prime Minister. The Times lead with "MI5 to get more powers", but just a sub headline that Government "took eye off the ball". The Daily Telegraph has nothing about it at all, claims by Mile Pompeo that China "bought" the WHO and UK close to abandoning Brexit talks. The Star and Mirror both lead on news that the Government is not going to give key workers Johnson was clapping two weeks ago and who saved his life, a pay rise after all.

The upshot is, most people will not be aware of how Cameron, May and now Johnson have abdicated their responsibility to keep the country safe, lest it cast light on the shady way they came into power.

It will be swept under the carpet, ignored and laughed off. MPs, Ministers and Lords were bribed by Russian money, more Russian money was spent on misinformation campaigns on social media, probably Russia leaked date to Vote Leave. But no one knows, because no one looked.

At the end of this long, 11 month wait, for the report to be published, the revelation is worse than our democracy was subverted, its worse than that, its that no one knows, in case the wrong answer was found.

On such corruption, the UK was wrenched out of the EU, created the conditions for a huge power grab by the executive, while Legal Aid, FoI and JR is being attacked.

Weep for our country, this sweet Albion, for it is lost.
