40%

Latest COVID data is not looking good, the real acid test is going to be in the next two weeks to see f if hospitalisations increase at a similar rate.

Yesterday there were 6,238 positive tests, a 7 day average incread of 39.8% increase. Meanwhile, patients admitted rate was down 2.2% at 846 as a seven day average, and deaths at 55, a drop of 5.2%.

The assumption, or hope, is that vaccinations will have a strong effect on hospitalisation rates, in which case only those who have had both doses will benefit,a nd data seems to show that Delta is effecting younger people more, which is why the Government is planning on vaccinating teenagers now.

As said, passim in these posts, vaccinations are just one weapon in an armoury of mitagtion tools that should have been used against the virus, but the Government has failed on communication, track and trace and sealing our borders from new variations, meaning that vaccines are all we have to fight this battle. With every new variant, the possibility grows that the next one will be vaccine resistant, and we will be back at square one.

Thing with a pandemic, we don't have to wait long to find out the answers.

Not long at all.
