Hoping against hope

Data from NHS suggests there is already a major increase in positive tests, and possbly hospitalisations are beginning to pick up too.

7,738 Daily number of people tested positive reported on 12 June 2021, and increase of 52.5% on a rolling seven day avaerage.

187 Daily number of patients admitted reported on 8 June 2021, an increase of 15.2%

And 12 deaths.

The Government is still supressing data from schools, and rumours are of demands to keep figures vague to keep schools open. Nothing though about protecting teachers and families, of course.

THere is no almost certainty that the final lockdown is being delayed at least four weeks, with the knock on that it will bring to festivals, travel holidays and the rest.

This is because the Government, under Johnson, chose not to close the borders, from India especially.

Half my department is in India, and the situation is getting worse, for something that began in February. This shit is real, and if it mutates to become vaccine resistant, the blame should be laid at the door to 10 Downing Street.
