Prorogue Mahone

This means a suspension. No, wait, let me look it up on Google.

"discontinue a session of (a parliament or other legislative assembly) without dissolving it."

Senior Conservatives are seriously considering this as an option because Parliament is probably not being able to endorse any alternative course of action.

They would do this to drive no deal though, there being no Parliamentary objections.

This is not legal.

The Monarch would have to approve.

The Speaker would not allow it, but could he stop it?

And remember, one of the supporting pillars of Brexit was supposed to be the restoration of the sovereignty of Westminster.

Not quite panned out that way.

And one more thing, the UK may never be ready for no deal as it was in March of this year.

The Government instructed the civil service to wind down no deal preparations, and most senior civil servants have moved on, as most are only in post for two years maximum, lest it be thought they careers are stagnating.

The same is true for those civil servants lower down the food chain, they need to move on, and if planning were to start again, the departments behind the preparations would have to start training from scratch as well as each civil servant understanding their brief and job.

And then there is the preparations by industry; stockpiling of stores and good. This will be harder in the run up to Christmas, and be expensive. Most will have already prepared for two Brexit days that did not happen, and might decide this won't either. Some companies might not be able to afford to.

Meanwhile the contenders for the Tory leadership blather on, not understanding what they are suggesting, or what it entails.

But it'll be alright on the night.

Or not.
