Turns out that the gaps between the UK's and EU's position are too huge to be bridged.
For now.
The EU issued a statement requiring all member states to finalise prparations for no deal.
And at the last minute, in an Emergency Cabinet meeting, Johnson said the same.
But this was the outcome he waid was a million to one shot, or was it a billion to one shot?
It matter little.
The EU have not changed their position much, the UK has threatened to break international law.
The EU wants clear leagally binding arbitration in any deal because of the UK's actions through this year and dating back to when DD was Minster for Brexit.
So, here we are, the last place we wnated to be, and the PM lying about an Australian type deal, a type of deal not even Austalia wants, as they are negotiating an FTA with the EU.
And here we are, about to crash out with our nearest neighbours.
Still there is the third wave of COVID to look forward to in January.
Apparently, it is "unpatriotic" to ask of a Minister what the plan is for January if there is no deal. I'm sure Johnson and co have all bases covered.
Ohhhhh.
