Early morning Brexit

Back in the 80s, Labour had been infiltrated by a left wing group called Militant; that got banned by the party as they were more for gogma rather than for people. Currently, Labour has Momentum, which has recruited tens, if not hundreds of thousands of new members for the party, supporting Corbyn. Meaning, no matter how useless he actually is as leader of the opposition, his position is pretty much secure.

Over at Conservative HQ, they have the 1922 backbencher committee, although not sure what they do, they have a powerful voice in supporting the Government or leader. Also there is something now called the ERG, the European Research Group, made of Conservative MPs in trying to push the PM into a harder Brexit. Yesterday, MP for the 1780s, JRM, was elected its new leader, and stated that he will ensure that the PM makes a success of Brexit, but also bear in mind that he supports walking away from the negotiations if things don't go the way he thinks they should. Yesterday on Newsnight, he also threatened reforming the House of Lords if they try to delay or change the Brexit bill. Which doesn't sound very democratic, which was supposed to be the point of Brexit and all that.

All MPs are equal but some are more equal than others.

All this means that the PM has to steer her Government through these vested interests domestically at the same time as negotiating with the EU, the chance of a deal with the EU being acceptable to the EU27, the European Parliament, both Houses at Westminster, the ERG, and everything is about zero. But what is good for the country comes a very distant last in anything Brexit related.

The EU also ramped up the pressure by, in a tweet, quoting DD that a democracy that isn't allowed to change its mind isn't a democracy. Which is true of course, but when they have the result they want and all that.

Finally, the agreement reached with the EU last December has to be legally enacted upon, if that were to fail in Westminster then it would cause the Government to fail, or a new leader be chosen, thus further muddying the Brexit waters, just at a time when every day is precious as May 29th 2019 get nearer. And remember, all has to be agreed by the end of September so that a 6 month period of ratification can be fitted in.

It is going to be a rollercoaster ride, and not at all smooth.
