Playing all the hits

Rather like the Generals in the Great War, do the same tactic over and over again, its the last thing the virus will be expecting. Johnson has dithered and delayed once again in regard to a lockdown, since SAGE recommoneded locking down on December 22nd, two weeks have been lost, and as coases and deaths priral out of control, we at least comforted by the fact the spike caused by Christmas relaxations have yet to take effect.

Oh boy.

So, three times now, Johnson has ignored the science in locking down too late. In March when the delay cost 20,000 deaths, and in September when SAGE recommended a short, sharp lockdown. That did not happen until the first week of November, 6 weeks dither and delay.

Now he's only gone and done it again, just 24 hours after going the Marr show and declaring schools were safe for children and teachers to return and mix in classrooms. 36 hours later, and 24 after Starmer said a lockdown was needed, Johnson leaks the news to Peston mid-afternoon that there will be a press conference at 20:00 in which what was already leaked be officially announced.

And remember, 20 days ago the Government was threatening Greenwich Council with court action for not opeing schools whn the data showed they should be closed.

Sigh.

So, weeks more lockdown to come, toilet roll shortages, as well as other food shortages, all on top of Brexit, where freight traffic is currently 85% down on normal levels.

Sometimes, I hate being right. I really do.

We will continue to keep safe, and hope you all will too.
