Saturday 16th January 2021

Many times we will look at the weather forecast, and it will be thunder storms or heavy snow, and it never arrived.

The forecast for Saturday morning was for heavy snow for three hours, preceeded by light snow from just before dawn.

Sixteen We were excited.

So, when dawn started to show, it revealed no snow.

I made coffee, fed the cats and looked out again.

There was snow.

And more was falling.

It was settling, and the back garden was a winter wonderland.

Two tone I went to grab my camera, as back when I was learning photography, the magazine I used to read, Camera Weekly, waxed long about the unique bue light after a snow shower. Although it warned that getting exposure right was difficult, as the reflected light confused TTL meters. However, in the days of photoshop and the like, corrections can always be made.

Almost blizzard conditions So, I take shots, from the back door and from the upstairs windows, then back down to drink coffee, and hope to walk across the Est Kent tundra later, snapping as I went. But the snow was beginning to melt as the sun rose behind the clouds, and was melting quicker than it was falling. Soon, paths we sluch, and the meadow was showing freen grass through the light covering.

Kitten steps And by eleven, the snow had all gone. And the snow has missed the sleet part out and went straight to rain.

The other side of the window And it rained hard.

So, any plans for going out to snap the snowy landscape were abandoned. And I put the kettle on for yet another brew.

The Kentish tundra We had our main meal at lunch; rump steak, fried sliced jackets, garlic mushrooms and sweet chilli stir fry. And fizz.

It was a great meal, I mean its always good, but this was special.

Rump steak Only problem was staying awake through the afternoon, as I tried to follow Norwich on Twitter whilst listening and watching dirty Leeds v Brighton, which was a good game, and Leeds lost.

Which was nice.

Norwich took an early 2-0 lead at Cardiff, despite half the squad being out with COVID, and hung on to win 2-1. Whether football should be being played is another matter, but we are still top of the league, and into the second half of the season now.

That was followed by Fulham v Chelsea, which was very even until the Cottagers had a player sent off, then it was ten men behind the ball, with Chelsea nicking a winner in the last ten minutes.

Oh well.

We play Uckers, and although this means little to non-military folks, I won by eight (8) pieces as the dice were very kind.

So ends another quiet day in the Jelltex house.
