Enemies at the gate

I live in east Kent, with the English Channel just a mile away, and for the last week, due to low winds, 2,000 people have crossed in boats trying to enter the UK.

This is being portraid in the media as a crisis.

In fact, when compared to previous years, the numbers are unchanged, but because checks on truck and lorries are so good now, people smugglers use boats.

In fact, numbers are about half what they were a decade ago.

That and the fact there is no legal way for people to claim asylum before reaching our shores.

So, its a catch 22 situation.

And I said before, the Government needs something like ths to take focus away from from the failure of Brexit and the corruption all over Whitehall.

The Government new in leaving the Eu would mean that the Dublin Agreement where migrants could be returned to the EU country, like France, they came from, and no such replacement was negotiated, so once here, they have to stay.

Again, this is the UK's choice, and one that could have been avoided.

But, as is the way with Johnson, Raab, Patel at al, is to blame someone else.

Follow the money to find the corruption.

Official Figures released this morning show that the UK has negative immigration numbers, more people leaving than arriving, and for the first time in history there being over 1 million empty job vacancies.
