Saturday 6th November 2021

The weekend.

Nothing much planned for the day, or for Sunday for that matter, but we needed food and supplies, so a trip to Tesco was on the cards, and also a trip to the butcher.

So, after coffee and feeding the cats, we loaded the car and drove to Whitfield, because shopping at seven on a Saturday is better than doing it at three on a Friday just after the schools have emptied. And the shelves are restocked too.

Saturday morning So, we go round filling up our trolley with stuff for the week, including veg as we were to have roast beef on Sunday and Jen was coming round.

We were hungry, so I have the idea of stopping at a grasy spoon for breakfast. I have described stopping at the before, but without saying what they are; a small van beside the road selling a variety of fried, dirty food.

And this would be no different.

There are two such vans on the Sandwich bypass, we stop at the one on the westerly side, there was no queueu, and we both ordered double sausage and double bacon. Ten minutes later, a large soft bread stick came filled with sauage and bacon. Just delicious, and hit the spot.

Three hundred and ten Once we had eaten and drunk our tea, we carried on to Nash and then to Preston to see the guys and buy more supplies: a beef join, a chicken, steak and chciken fillets. Also some samosas for supper too.

Greasy spoon And that was that, we drove back home, unploaded the car, put the shopping away and put the kettle on.

It would have been easy to have just lazed around, but it was bright outside, so we put our boots and coats on and went out for a walk.

There isn't any butterflies to be seen now, although there is always a chance on a sunny, warm day. But not this time, and the range of flowers is shrinking.

Autumnal walk We walk over the fields to Fleet house, kicking our way through recently falled red and yellow leaves, past the pig's copse and down the hill past the farm, threading our way through the muddy puddles at the bottom, before walking up the long slope towards Windy Ridge.

Autumnal walk I showed Jools the new bench placed on the other side of the hedge, it has fine views over the valley towards Otty Bottom Road, the golf course and up to the momnument. We sit and take it all in for twenty minutes, pretty much the only movement was a small red tractor, ploughing a small field, but making the noise of a bigger vehicle.

Autumnal walk After 20 minutes we get up and walk to the wood. Its been years since I walked though it, so I did brave the mud to check on fungi which I hoped would be there. Not quite as muddy as I feared, and three species of fungi seen, an earth ball and King Alfred's Cakes and one other I have no idea about.

Back out the far end with just the walk back down to Collingwood and then to home.

We put the kettle on, and I settle down for football.

Utd v Citeh, which was as one sided as the Utd fans would have feared. An own goal set Citeh on their way, and Utd never really laid a finger on their neighbours. It ended 2-0, but it could have been another 5-0 hammering.

Then it was eyes down for the main games, including Norwich at Brentford, and I had long since given up of us winning again, but City went in 2-0 up at half time, and held on to win 2-1. So onwards and upwards?

Well, manager Daniel Farke was sacked after the game, win and all, so we are in a flux again.

Daniel has been manager for four and a half years, and oversaw some of the best football I have seen Norwich play, and two promotions, but in the Prem, we look out of our depth, so, maybe for the best. Despite who takes over, it'll never be the same.

The rest of the evening was a blur, like a family member had died if I'm honest.
