Friday 25th April 2025

Another day, another tiger.

Its been a few days since we saw one, and as I detailed yesterday, this is a very large National Park, so there was a chance we might not see one.

Sunrise and a jeep Unlike the past two days, where we had afternoon safaris, today we had a morning one, which means being ready for 05:15!

All we had to do was wash and get dressed, then be out in reception on time.

A short drive to the gate, where we were the first Jeep of the day.

A quick check of the permit and our passports, and we were in, and straight away our driver found fresh tiger prints, which we followed.

Panthera tigris tigris It wasn't fully light when we came over a crest in the track, and in front of us was a female tiger, grooming on a slight rise.

Panthera tigris tigris She swung her heard to look at us.

Then carried on washing.

Two more jeeps pulled up behind us, there was no room beside, so we all sat and took shots.

One hundred and fifteen Until after her forth huge yawn, she got up, walked down the banks, across the road and down the bed of a dried up river, bouncing along to get out of our sight, and maybe deer for breakfast.

Panthera tigris tigris Again, despite knowing where she was in quite a small area, this is a much more lush area, with many more watering holes, so activity is much less predictable.

We didn't get another sighting, and it was agreed that at ten past nine, it was now too hot for much tiger action until late afternoon, so we made our way back to the gate, then back to the resort.

Tiger feet We now had near four hours until lunch, with little else to do. So Jools and I had a wee snooze as housekeeping had made our bed.

Off to lunch at four, and one meal really hoping for something other than curry. Its all very nice, but all curry and rice, and gets a bit samey. But then we are running out of days, two more days here, then travel back to Delhi for one night and then the long flight home.

I will be glad to get home.

More snoozing in the afternoon, ten a shower, listen to a podcast and now its twenty to seven, still eighty minutes until dinner.

Tomorrow and Sunday we have two safaris a day, if we can stand the heat, especially in the afternoon.

We have seen most of what we wanted, including this 92nd tiger encounter.
