Wednesday 16th April 2025

Up at half four for the first safari here.

It was still dark.

and cool

We met in reception at five, and then went to be allocated jeeps and drivers. We had a fine experienced one, who made the day go perfectly.

Panthera tigris tigris Along to the reserve offices to pick up a guide, a young lady called Barti, and with John in the back we had a hight old time.

Panthera tigris tigris Five minutes after entering the park we encountered a female tiger with two three year-old cubs, and an near-adult male.

Panthera tigris tigris We watched them interact then move off into the long grass.

It is cooler here, and more verdant, lots of green growth, making it a better experience.

Panthera tigris tigris Another female was seen on a slope, resting, then after twenty minutes, her head came up, then she stood up, then sprinted after a deer that had stayed too close.

Roar! She did not catch it, so she came down the slope, and passed across the road in front of us, between about a dozen jeeps.

One hundred and six On the way to the breakfast area, we came across a group of Long-billed vultures high above the road, and on the ground nearby, an Egyptian Vulture was pecking at a corpse, whilst behind a Jackal was eating a vulture.

Panthera tigris tigris Scenes.

In truth not much seen the rest of the first part of the morning, so we went to centre point to have breakfast, where the sun was already high in the sky and hot.

Up the hill Darn hot.

For the final part of the morning, we drove to the foot of the cliff, then took an ancient narrow steep track, with hair pin bends and no barriers, up about 400 feet to where there is a fort to look at.

Up the hill Due to the heat, I stayed in the jeep while the others went. They confirmed it was steep and hot. I may have chosen wisely.

Up the hill Then back down the track again, this time hoping the brakes didn't fail until we were back on the plain again. And then via to racks to the main gate and out.

Delias eucharis On Wednesdays the park is closed in the afternoon, so we had a few hours off. First it was back to the cabin to cool off, then for lunch, and after which the afternoon spread out before us.

Zizeeria karsandra Jools went swimming. I listened to a podcast and wrote.

At five, Jools went on a trip to a nearby village to do some nick knack shopping, before dinner at half seven.

Although an almost 100% vegetarian diet might be healthy, my digestion is working overtime, and I just fancy some stodge to break it all up.

Really.
