First part is the bus journey from Corbett back to Delhi. A journey of 234 km or so, but would take nearly seven hours.
I will write a blog separately on driving and the laws of the road, except to say how glad we are to be back in Delhi with only a short hop to the airport tomorrow morning.
And we got a lay in, till nearly half six, by which time the sun was up and already getting warm outside..
We finished the last of the packing, put the cases outside the cabin for collection, then went for our final breakfast at eight.
There are breakfast curries, apparently, or stuff with rice. I didn't look too close, instead had cornflakes followed by toast and a coffee. One last sweep round the rooms, and pack the final items before walking to reception as the six of us gathered to wait the arrival of the bus.
The journey took us back past Corbett Falls, then across the countryside to some dual carriageway, through villages and towns, all crazy busy with people just getting on with living.
All to the soundtrack of hundreds of horns, of course.
Our driver makes good time with good use of lane changing and use of his horn.
Fnarr.
Then onto the motorway, stopping at midday at a service station, where we had the most expensive ice creams in Christendom, but were good. Though you had to eat quick as it was 37 degrees out.
Back over the Ganges. I took a video for your enjoyment again. And from the other side you can see all the shacks along the shore, and boats to take people out.
And then the final leg, into Delhi where the traffic got really crazy, and in truth we just want to get to the airport and relax.
I have no idea how we didn't have an accident, but we arrived safe and sound, into our air conditioned luxury. Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Mahindra, our guide, So hugs and handshakes.
We walk to the lifts, bellboys clutching our cases in our wake.
