Fruit and nuts

In Brexitlalaland, things are getting serious, as the Daily Hate Mail is now reporting fruit and vegetable shortages caused by Brexit. And John Redwood is calling for a “dig for victory” plan. Thing is john, you have to do that the year ahead so there is food to eat when you need it now. Saying that, I am happy for all golf courses to be converted to farms or allotments.

One Brexiteer pointed out they had found a package of fresh tomatoes in Sainsbury’s that were grown in Kent. Therefore if we all swapped for Kent-grown winter tomatoes, there would be no food shortage.

Only the tomatoes in question were grown, and I can be quite certain about this, at Planet Thanet, Kent’s largest greenhouse. Flying over Thanet at night, its bright orange lights shine like a beacon. But the idea that this one, very large greenhouse, could supply all the needs of the country is so stupid I won’t honour it with an answer. I can tell you most of Holland is covered with hundreds of these, not just the one.

So, shelves have little fruit or vegetables, other than those grown in the UK, and even for those there is a labour shortage for pickers as some daft twat has ended the freedom of movement for the very class of EU workers who love to do this kind of thing for minimum wage. Even though they were warned. Everyone who voted for Brexit should make their way to the nearest farm for sowing and picking duties. I’m sure they’d understand.

But such jobs, rules and taxes are for the small people. And remain voters, I guess.

Thanks for this years comments. - so much to comment on! - had forgotten dear old John Redwood - incredible - all this we can do it - we did it before. - we shall fight etc etc. - we shall never surrender - - thing is John et al it did not have to be this way - and then again when Farage said at the end "The war is over'' - we knew just how they saw things - just been reading about EU police confiscating sandwiches brought in by drivers. - sound petty but we did sign up for an arrangement where only approved products would be allowed. - and it was going to rid us of all that silly EU red tape - oh yeh - I reckon from day one most of the movers on the leave side had interest outside of EU. - most are well heeled or even very well heeled - when did any of them and indeed many MPs spend time with an ordinary struggling family - JRM would not recognise an ordinary family if he tripped over on - keep up the good work - the turbines are still turbining up here !
