Last day of November.
We move into the short days, and long, dark night tomorrow, but in three weeks, the shortest day will pass, and the daily victory of light will begin again.
I have to say, Jools' cough is no better, and some days worse. So, by the end of the day she agreed to call the doctor once again to find out what could be wrong.
Until then, she has long periods without coughing, then for no reason, it starts up. And doesn't stop.
Wednesday, she was fine most of the day, and then when she went to bed, the coughing started, and it took ages for her to get to sleep.
Before then, there was work, of course. But not for Jools, as we had an appointment in the afternoon, so she took the day off. She did the washing, cleaned the kitchen floor, among other things. While I worked.
I caught up totally with work, had calls wth people to clear up issues.
*taps fingers waiting for things to happen*
At midday, cleaning was done, as was work, so I packed away and we set off for Canterbury.
In a roundabout fashion.
Thing with Canterbury is, its nice to visit, but a nightmare to drive through. To get to the university campus, we would have to drive round the ring road, down the narrow street past Canterbury West station over the level crossing, then up the hill past St Dunstan.
Or.
We could go up the A2, past Canterbury, along Thanet Way to Whitstable, then turn south through Blean and down the hill to the campus.
Which is what we did.
A glorious sunny autumnal day, the trees along the A2 a roit of reds and yellows, then turning east along Thanet Way, down through the north Downs onto the edge of the city.
We had half an hour, so we went to get a coffee and a cake, only for our financial advisore to be there and said we could go straight in. This was our annual pension review, where we discuss our plans and how much we would need to save in order to meet those plans and dreams.
The past year has been brutal, but our inviestmens, although going down, not as bad as we thought, and was improving, certainly since Truss was no longer PM.
We signed papers, and that was that.
Jools was hungry, so we would go along to Ramsgate on Thanet Way, then down to Sandwich and into Deal where we would choose between fish and chips or a Turkish feast.
A pleasant late afternoon drive in the end, and having all day, I cruise at sixty and was all rather nice.
We park behind the shops on The Strand, walk though a passageway and go to the Turkish Place. Due to the economic squeeze, they were doing a limited lunchtime menu (until four, anyway) so we chose a starter and main course, and wait for it to arrive.
I hard creamy garlic something with flatbreads to start, followed by lamb casserole, not as naughty as I would have liked, but tasty.
And there was enough rice and salad left over for Jools to have lunch over the last two days of the week.
I pay, leave a tip and we were gone, back to the car and then back home, getting back just as dusk was falling, and in time for the second half of the footy.
No need for supper, but I did have some saltsticks with some squash as I watched the evening game, Argentina plyed more than well enough to go through.
In bed by nine again.
