It has emerged this morning that the party-within-a-part of the so-called Research Group(s), is to be investigated for money laundering by the Houses of Parliament.
Best known of these is the Europeand (ERG), and there was the COVED (CG) and the Northern (NRG). And in fact it is the funding of the latter that is under scrutiny.
It seems the mentod of their funding, the pooling of members expenses from other Parliamentary activities into a pot for the group(s) to use might not be strictly legal.
Oh dear, what a shame.
Meanwhile, despite having become Prime Minister promising a new era of openess and honesty, Sunak has missed 1 in 6 of PMQs since taking office, and has now not taken part in the detate or vote into Johnson's misleading Parliament and the Standards Committee as well as the 7 (seven) backbenchers, two of which were former Mnisters, who attacked the honesty of members of the committee and the committee itself.
In fact the Government benches were almost empty during the debate into Johnson, despite the cross-party committee finding clear evidence of misleading the House as well as the committee.
Sunak has declined to comment on the reort, the vote, activities of the seven backbenchers, and yet found time to speak at leangth about the Ashes Tests on Test Match Special, and have a view on the BBC employee scandal, which turned out not to be a scandal at all.
