It says here

The daily newspapers are a good barometer as to where Government policy is being nudged.

So, what do we have today?

A Levels to be overhauled as too many choldren from poor backgrounds get top grades. Wasn't such a problem last year when it was revealed that the system downgraded their results. Thatnk you, The Times (of London). It also has on the front page that Matt Hancock pushed a £123,000,000 contract to the company Tory Boy David Camoron was being paid to lobby for.

The Torygraph also leads on A Levels, but underneath has a curious report stating that as COVID is here to stay, we might as well stop testing for it. Quotes an "Oxford Expert", not sure whether that is on the university, the football club, or the AZ vaccne. Or something else.

The Mail leads with four pages of coverage of the Royal Nonce, Prince Andrew, which is 16 pages less than it dedicated to Sussexes giving a TV interview.

Only the Guardian, no surprise, reports on the extended "emergency" powers to exten Operation Brock.

It seems that A Levels, which are never as hard as they were in my day, are they? rates much more importance than either Brexit or COVID.

I'm sure news on both is on the inside pages, but in these times, papers and the Government would rather you got angry in the latest culture wars, which this week is not calling curry, "curry", or something. Many have fallen for it, including the Star which goes from day to day from attacking the "clowns" in Government to the culture wars. I am trying to work out their modus, but as its owned by the same people who own The Express, its probably not good.

With there being foot shortages, the Army being brought in to drive lorries.

Oh yes, most MOD lorry drivers are reservists, who in their full time jobs are, checks notes, lorry drivers. So, in order to tackle the shortage of lorry drivers the Government will take lorry drivers from the distribution companies so they can drive the same lorries, but wearing uniform?

I mean, not all reservists are lorry drivers, but most with an HGV licence will be.

Its all mad, I would laugh about it, were it not so serious.
