All quiet on the Brexit front

Politics has been quiet for two weeks. The PM is on his holibobs, and the rest of Parliament on also on recess.

But the clock and calendar continue to tick down.

The current A50 extension period ends on 31st January 2020 when the extension agreement kicks in.

As A50 has been extended and extended, the extension period hasn't, so we have gone from a 21 month extension to an 11 month one, with all the things needed to be agreed still to be discussed even internally on the UK side.

The UK would have to apply for an extension of the Extension by July, this is under the WA, and cannot be easily changed, if at all.

21 months was deemed by "so called experts" in things like trade and international law, not to be long enough to get a basic agreement package in place. 11 months doesn't make that any less impossible.

Meanwhile, brain on legs Dominic Cummings is planning revamping the civil service at the same time as Brexit, which doesn't seem the best idea to me, but what do I know?

Still, get the popcorn ready as the fun and games is about to begin.

And in the background, Labour still think they were not Brexity and left wing enough.
