Timings

Whatever you think of the UK Government's policy on Rwanda, what should be clear that the policy is cruel, heartless, or whatever, but its implementation has not been taken seriously by the PM or Government.

Legislation will have to be passed, and that takes time.

Even if the bill reached the House of Lords, and they were to pass without ammendments, there isn't enough time to get it through before the next election.

And as the Bill contains much that will alarm the Lords, and would either block it or fill it with ammendments, the Government cannot use the Piarliament Act to foce it through as that takes even more time.

It would need a new session of Parliament, which cannot begin for a year, and as such the process would take up to 13 months from when the decision to use the Act, and as Parliament will rise for the election by the middle of December 2024 at the latest, there is literally no time for the bill to pass.

So, this is perfomative policy, but people too stupid, or by people who never wanted to use the policy of transporting migrants to Africa, just to appear cruel and heartless.

And yet no newspaper or media outlet says this, so it is being played out as a new front in the Culture Wars, as this Government has little else to offer.

Remember, the Government has a majority in the Commons of 56. If all its MPs vote for their legislation, the Government could deliver huge, transformational policies. And yet does not.

The Conservative Party is split in at least two, if not three parts, and it seems on any meaningful policy, at least one faction will rebel, thus the natual party of Government delivering a hung Parliament, that will do nothing for 12 more months.

Sunak could call an election, of course......
