Monday 11th September 2017

Another anniversary of the attacks on New York. You would have thought that the terrorist porn had all be shown so much now. But Channel 4 dedicated a whole evening to it, including a minute by minute program. Maybe it is good for people too young not to remember, but having watched it in real time on TV on the day, and into the evening, I did not need to see or relive it again. But I did remember.

Monday and back to work, and poor Jools is working long hours again, leaving home at six in the morning in order to keep the production line going. She buys stock to make sure orders are met, and doing three hours overtime is the only way it can be done. It has been this way every time her boss is orr, or she is off too for that matter. Then takes weeks to catch up, working all these hours, spending so little time at home, and when she does, she is pooped.

I, on the other hand, can work from home, laze around until it is time for the regular meeting with my boss. And then have the meeting with me still in my dressing gown, and no one knows! Once the meeting finishes, I make a fresh brew and have breakfast, and then get down to the much delayed task of reviewing comments to to the document I created before the holiday. Deep breath, and here we go.

In fact, only one really tricky comment, and by lunchtime I have done it, and can think about producing the final version. Goody.

And there are meetings, of course. Talking. Talking about more talking for the most part, but there goes. It's what keeps the wheels of industry going round. I also book up my next work trip, to Hamburg at the end of the week, that is if I don't have to go to Denmark next week. And I have to arrange collection of a hire car and book a hotel for Tuesday night, the reason for which you will find out in the next post.

Two hundred and fifty four So, all in all the day was busy, busy too when I tackled the hot issue of the outstanding travel receipts. I have lost one from last year, and despite saying so many times, the computer insists a legal letter be written and signed, stating that it was spent on duty for the company. I then have to scan the letter and send it off via e mail. There is a chance the computer will insist that the letter be uploaded to the system.

And in my estimation, come four in the afternoon, I am all caught up. Enthusiasm still low, but bearable, although we are both thinking we need another holiday to look forward to, despite saying we will not have one next year.

I put on the radio and dance around the kitchen while I prepare dinner; fishcakes and lentil dahl and fresh corn. All good stuff and tasty, and fairly healthy. Which is good, right?

We sit on the sofa eating ice creams whilst The Sky at Night plays, but this is not so healthy, really. But by nine we are both pooped, and with an early start for us both in the morning, we go to bed at nine, with it already dark outside.
