Brexit news

Again, a bit quiet this week on the Brexit front, as all eyes are on the terrorist attack by Russia in Salisbury. A sentence I never thought I would write. The EU have offered Britain unconditional support, but when Secretary of State in the US also offered his support, Trump fired him, by Tweet, a while later. And the State official that reported a different series of events to Trump’s, he was fired too. These are incredible times.

It is pertinent to remember that as Britain shapes to leave the EU, the rest of the world grows ever more unsettled and past assurances are gone. Is this the best of times to be throwing our hat in with Trump’s America when it has been stated many, many times that trade deals would be changed to favour America.

But I am sure all will be OK on the night. He said sarcastically.

The OBR restated its opinion on how much Brexit is going to cost, and shows in its figures that its figures last year were generally accurate. Also it said that the Government had again failed to provide it with any figures with which to base its projections, contradicting what was said last year in that the speeches given by the PM contained no actual figures.

And of course, another two days have passed, 48 hours. SO we are nearer to Brexit day, and in a report from the Freight Handler’s Association, they state that an increase in the time to check lorry paperwork at Dover to 4 minutes from the current 2 minutes would bring permanent jams of 30 miles to East Kent. And there is no infrastructure, staff or IT systems in place to kick in ready for the 29th March next year.
