The Brexit bonus in full

I wantched an interview with a Brixham fisherman who has built up his business for 44 years, decades of hard work and something to leave to his children and grandchildren. It was this last point that made him vote leave in the referendum, won over by the false promises of taking back control.

Control of waters, of fish, to ensure a rosy future.

Since New Year he has not been able to export one fish to Europe, his business is facing ruin.

He wasn't impressed by JRM's "jkes" about "happy, British fish".

That won't pay his bills or buy his stock.

A lamb meat exporter has several loaded trucks in the EU, stuck at ports, the meat was chilled but has now gone off, some loads are three weeks old, so will have to be destroyed. He needs to bring the loads back to the UK, but there is no process for that yet, so the meat sits at ports, continuing to rot.

A woman was featured on the BBC website, explaining how a £200 coat cost her an extra £82 in costs when it arrived from an EU based retailer. ~BuyBritish was the hashtrag thattrended yesterday, as Brexiteers lamented someone buying from the EU, many pointed out that what they bought from the EU cannot be bought in the UK, so their car, motorcycle is now laid up, unable to be used.

But the bigger point above is that EU suppliers, ig and small, cannot replace 400 million potentioal customers in the EU wth 72 million based in the UK, they were probably already selling to the home market, and EU customers are faced with the same costs from UK suppliers and UK customers are from EU suppliers.

Its quite fair because we all lose out.

But many EU companies are just giving up on exporting, which does not bode well for "Gobal Britain".
