The light at the end of the tunnel?

Spansih Flu raged across the globe for 500 days before it evolved into something much less deadly.

COVID is not the same disease, but the 500 days point is March 31st.

I have hope. Great hope that the Spring will be easier.

Which is just as well as Johnson and his Government are fucing things up in new and more inventive ways.

Hundreds of peple queued in the cold yesterday at a London GOP surgery to get vaccinated, all should have had an appointment, and yet the line stretched way down the road.

Elsewhere many surgeries are reporting too little vaccine or none, as happened on Friday when the Health Secretary visited a surgery to be photographed as jabs were being carried out, only the vaccine did not arrive until after he left.

GPs have to provide 11 pieces of documented evidence to be allowed to carry out the vaccinations, why has this been left to when the vaccine is n the country and on the shelves?

The sheer scale of conducting over 100 million jabs is huge, but it was always something that was going to have to be done, so why were there no preparations, why was there no plan, why is the Mayor of London asking to people to come out of retirement?

Nightingale Hospitals are being reopened, but there is no staff for them, so more retired volunteers are needed.

Talk is now of a tougher lockdown, as the current one is beingflouted, although not by us. Saying that, many people are allowed to be out, schools are half full as those without computers so cannot learn online have to go in, despite the Government promising in the Spring last year that every child would have online access.

Lockdowns have failed since May as there is nothing to take over when they are lifted, or the lockdown themselves have so many expemptions that no one can understand them. I believe there is just one person out of Government who has the total overview of the current state of English laws and guidance.

Becasue there are laws, things you can be arrested for or have a fine imposed, the rest is guidance, though many forces are enforcing guidance as though they were laws, egged on by Ministers. There is no limit to how many times we can leave our homes, we can leave home because of work, school, medical assistance, to avoid abuse or for medical reasons incluing mental health reasons, and we are allowed to drive to a park or other place to walk. We should not be hassled or arrested for following guidance, but it is happening.

Even if they do all get a laptop, who is going to pay for internet access? I seem to remember the Conservatives shouting down Corbyn's suggestion of a nationalised rollout and access.

We are much nearer the end that the beginning, but the Government is heading down a route where only those over 50 will be vaccinated and the rest will have to suffer herd immunity. Many will die. Yester, even with the Government's narrow definition, the UK passed through 80,000 COVID deaths. New Zealand and Australia have life back to normal, or as close to it.

The next few weeks will be the darkest yet.
