End of Year Brexit report.

As 2017 drew to an end, the Government Minister for Infrastructure, Labour peer Lord Adonis, resigned. Why is this an issue?

Well, he revealed in his resignation letter how badly things are going in the various ministries, with civil servants disagreeing with almost all of Government POlicy, but the two ministries with the skill sets able to deliver a fairly pain free Brexit, the FCO and Treasury, have both been largely sidelined. Once again we come to the point that if you wanted to undermine Brexit you would not have done things any different from what May has gone.

There is also talk of a Cabinet Reshuffle, with Boris de Piffle Johnson possibly taking over Brexit duties. But showing who is really wearing the trousers in the Cabinet, "sources" close to Johnson says he will not take a job that "looks" like a demotion. So there we have the situation where someone junior to the PM, even if he is the Foreign Secretary, dictating what May should do.

This really is a zombie Government, propped up by a suspiciously funded deal with the DUP and cheered on by the tax-avoiding owners of the Mail, Express, Torygraph and Times. Even today, The Times trumpets news that Britons are upbeat about their job prospects and house prices. Is this because they have studied all the data and are sure, or just a guess? Yesterday there was the Express saying how trade is surging, is this because or despite of Brexit? Should I be the one to point out that we have not left the EU yest, so are still trading with the rest of the world as we have done for the past 44 years?
