Surprise Brexit news

On Tuesday (9th), a letter from DD to the PM was leaked expressing surprise that the EU is advising companies that do business in the EU to prepare for a “no deal” Brexit, and DD was even considering legal action, although any resolution would probably be after Brexit day itself.

Not sure really what the most surprising thing about this is, whether he is surprised the EU is preparing for something the UK Government has threatened on a number of occasions and has put aside £3billion to prepare for it. Or that no deal means Britain becoming a 3rd party country irrespective of any transition or other deal even if Britain abides by SM and CU rules, it is still a 3rd party.

The EU added, that it is surprised that DD is surprised. Brexit means Brexit.

The EU is simply saying Brexit means Brexit, what May said over and over again since triggering A50 even though Britain wasn’t ready and even now the cabinet cannot agree on what the objective is in Brexit, what our relationship with the EU should be, or aim to be.

Yesterday, the much vaunted reshuffle was a disaster, as is almost anything that May has a hand in, with ministers that should be demoted or sacked, kept in post or have their portfolio expanded. Some ministers just plain refusing to move when asked to, showing just how weak May is at home within her own government, and that is also true with the negotiations with the EU.

2018, as promised, will be interesting, and will get more fraught week on week. There is no escape from reality and what Britain set in nothing, only now is the realisation of DD and HM Government beginning to see the grand folly, there can be no brinkmanship, nor ruffing of our hand, it is what it is, and what it is is weak.
