Two days out of the Brexit wormhole

What with travelling back from Denmark, and yesterday going to see my Mother, I have lost 36 hours of the Brexit chaos.

This has been good for my sanity.

Brexit is, at its most basic, a stupid economically illiterate idea executed so ineptly, its like an episode of The Thick of It last three years.

It has been a national embarrassment, but the full extent of this will take years to dawn on the country and electorate, but it will.

I have written about how Brexit can be seen as an attack on the pillars of democracy; the press, the judiciary and the press, and possibly the first steps on the road to a fascist state. Or something close.

The way in which the Ambassador's messages to the FCO were leaked, the journalist who published the leaks and the way in which she framed her article should leave people in no doubt as to where we are heading.

Sir Kim Darroch’s personal political beliefs should not matter. And the leak mentioned nothing of Brexit, just an open and honest assessment of the dysfunctionalness of Trump's administration and this was going to continue. Nothing about Brexit.

And yet the journalist, Isabel Oakeshott, framed him as being a Brexit frustrating remainer, systematic of the remainer establishment.

It is a sad truth the the people who have the technical expertise to deliver Brexit know its going to be a disaster, and those who want to deliver Brexit do not have the technical expertise to do so.

So, as a country, we're fucked.

And the Brexit true believers will try to purge those not worth from Government, Parliament, the Civil Service and possibly the military too.

Oh look, the Fascist duck is quacking.
