Another leak to the press

Gavin Williamson leaked the fact that there is to be free appeals in the A level results fiasco. This was in The Times today.

It was one of the most predictable u-turns.

But for many, even if they do appeal, and are successful, their place at university, their shot at a better life has been lost, as many universities, including Oxbridge, have said that any places offered on condition before the results were released, if students did not get the expected or required results, the offer had been withdrawn and their place given to someone else.

All too late.

Meanwhile, it emerged that not one pupil from Eton had their marks downgraded, while a school in the north east which had had at least one pupil each year for the last decade obtain a grade A, had all those expected to get them this year, downgraded. A native Italian speaker had his predicted A* grade lowered to a B.

And it goes on.

But it is those who had the grades they needed for university taken away, and have now lost their futures. This will be a fiasco with a very long tail for the Conservatives.

Meanwhile, UK citizens rushed to get back from France and Holland to beat the 04:00 imposition this morning of the new requirements for 14 days quarantine. There is no science why the requirement was delayed 36 hours, the virus never sleeps, but is more likely to be a warning shot to France on their "failures" in stopping migrants crossing the Channel.

One thing that this artificial crisis has shown is that the UK cannot deal with the issue on its own, it needs the cooperation of France or Belgium. And unless a new deal is struck before the end of the year, then the current arrangements will expire, and there can be no reparations at all.

The sheer dreadfulness of the press is shown this morning with The Express leading with, and I kid you not: "Boris: We're going all out to find vaccine." Like this tousle-headed twat has his one secret laboratory and is trying to turn base metals into a virus vaccine. He is nothing but a workshy fop, and is apparently quite happy with the 65,000 extra deaths, and hundreds of millions of pounds meant for PPE or ventilators have found their way into the pockets of his friends and financial backers.

That is the scandal and should have brought this shameless collection of incompetence crashing down.

But they carry on. Making announcements on policies they don't have the ability to deliver. Still, only our and a half years until the next election.....
